Guess who just got back today?
Them wild-eyed boys that had been away
Haven’t changed, haven’t much to say
But man, I still think them cats are crazy
Friday night they’ll be dressed to kill
Down at Dino’s bar and grill
The drink will flow and blood will spill
And if the boys want to fight, you’d better let them…
This past week the Alliance wrapped up our extended deployment in Fountain and headed back home. A lot of us have depleted wallets while some of us are looking at some new shineys to buy so our focus is on ISK for the short term at least. That’s not to say we turn a blind eye toward targets of opportunity when they jump up and down and wave their arms at us. Kind of like a neutral fleet that includes two Machariels messing around with some of our blue buddies.
Our FC formed up an armor gang. I haven’t had time to fit up another of my signature Arbitrators and both of my Zealots are shield tanked so I grabbed a Harbinger for this one. I was proud of Teljkon Nugs for throwing an Arbitrator together. He may be a former Goon but that brought a tear to my eye. It seemed like armor logi pilots came out of the woodwork as we had four or five; we were actually light on DPS! Fleet formed up on the jumpbridge in our system and we headed out.
To our delight we found the hostile fleet right where we expected them to be. Even better, they took our bait and jumped in to us unscouted. Bubbles went up, webs and scrams were applied and we started burning through the targets as they were called. I know for a fact that we could have grabbed even more ships but we have a bad habit of not spreading points and I’ll include myself in that group. At one point I was within 5k of a Cyclone and didn’t have the presence of mind to switch point to him. I’m not going to complain too much though as we killed two Hurricanes, a Retribution and Machariel #1 in exchange for exactly nothing. No losses. Nearly a billion in kills in a single fight.
Not satisfied, we wanted more blood, especially that second Machariel. We spread out a bit and got very lucky when he landed on a gate with a couple of our guys. He jumped through and someone (I can’t remember who) managed to get a scram on him. The rest of the fleet got there quickly and we shot down Machariel #2.
We decided to call it a successful roam at that point and headed back. Not more than 45 minutes later we had reports of a neutral Cynabal mucking about. Many of us were still in fleet so we undocked and set up to cover his escape routes. I happened to be on the gate opposite of the way he went so I didn’t get on the kill but we popped yet another Angel Cartel faction ship.
It was a great night to be sure and a heckuva way to remind all of our neighbors (friendly or not) that we are back home and keeping an eye on our LAWN.
